How to Get Around by Public Transportation

Get around Jacksonville in style on trolleys, the Skyway, buses, water taxis, and the ferry. Search through our transportation companies below.

The St. Johns River Taxi provides transportation to points on both sides of the St. Johns River in the heart of Downtown (including EverBank Stadium, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars!). Remember, a sunset tour on the River Taxi is one of the best ways to see breathtaking views of the Jacksonville skyline. Download the Downtown Jacksonville Map to help you get around the heart of our city! SkywayThe JTA-operated 2.5-mile Skyway provides “traffic-free” transportation between the North- and Southbanks of Downtown throughout the week, and during special events. Visit JTA for more information or call (904) 630-3100.

Visitors may conveniently rent a car near the Jacksonville International Airport or throughout Jacksonville.

More than 30 JTA bus routes take passengers throughout Jacksonville and to the Beaches. Visit JTA for more information or call (904) 630-3100.

Take a scenic break from the highway aboard one of the last remaining public ferries in the state! The historic St. Johns River Ferry carries passenger and cars between Mayport and Ft. George Island.

Beach Buggy App provides FREE rides and recommendations to the residents and visitors of the beaches community. We operate environmentally friendly, zero emission, longrange, 8-10 seater electric carts and 14 passenger vans. Riders are not charged any type of fee, but encouraged to tip drivers however they see fit.

Go Tuk’n, in partnership with the Jacksonville Transportation Authority, offers a pay-to-ride shuttle service in Riverside Avondale. This door-to-door shuttle uses environmentally friendly, open-air tuk tuks and an ADA compliant bus. Rides start at $2 per trip. To view all Tuk’n Ride stops download the Tuk’n Ride app from the Google Play and Apple app stores.

Downtown Jacksonville’s compact core is safe and easy to walk from place-to-place. The city also offers a variety of riverfront jogging/walking paths for those living an active lifestyle. Take a mid-day stroll on the downtown Riverwalk alongside the St. Johns River, or challenge yourself to a morning run over the downtown bridges.

Rent a bike from a local bike shop or downtown at the Hyatt Regency and leisurely pedal the tree-lined sidewalks of Jacksonville’s historic neighborhoods, minutes from downtown. The wide, white sandy beaches also offer a great way to relax on a bike. Biking is a preferred method of transportation at the beaches too. You will often find full bike racks outside the beaches most popular watering holes. For a more vigorous biking adventure, hit the mountain biking trails at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park or the Jacksonville-Baldwin Rail-Trail.

Jacksonville visitors can access several local taxi companies, ZTrip, Uber & Lyft.
